Wales Overview |
Wales is a nation proud of its heritage and is a real treat for visitors. With its blend of new and old, traditional and modern, urban and rural, Wales has much to offer.
Wales has always been famed for its majestic countryside but regeneration has seen its cities develop into vibrant and cultural places. |

Wales Essentials |
Cardiff - Cardiff is the capital of Wales, and certainly the commercial centre of the country. Boasting a fine City Centre Castle, the National Museum, Art Gallery and the new Millennium Stadium are among Cardiff’s highlights well worth visiting.
Snowdonia –. Snowdon is Britain’s highest peak south of the Scottish highlands and boasts many excellent walks and hiking trails. Snowdonia is Britain’s second largest national park.
St David’s - Not only does this small city have links to the patron saint of Wales, but it is also St David’s final resting place and home to a magnificent 12th Century cathedral.
Conwy - Dominated by its classic castle, Conwy is a fantastic medieval walled town. The castle is a truly amazing sight with its backdrop of Mount Snowdon. The town’s walls remain largely intact. Conwy also boasts the smallest house in the UK.
Brecon Beacons National Park – This superb national park has four mountain ranges and a variety of different landscapes within its relatively small borders. The historic nearby market town of Brecon is also worth a visit.

Llangollen International Music Eisteddfod (July) - On the first Monday of every July thousands of people descend on this tiny village for one week. This festival is a fantastic celebration of folk music, song and dance.
National Eisteddfod of Wales (August) – This celebration of everything Welsh is held entirely in the national language, Cymraeg. Dating back several hundred years, traditional dress is a must at this festival, where poetry is amongst the entertainment. |
