| Beware the parking wardens - it takes about 3 seconds for them to tow your car away! I think they hide in the trees waiting for naive tourists! |

| Car hire is very reasonable, and fuel is also inexpensive. You will find getting around the island much easier with a car, be warned though, the mountain roads are very steep, narrow and have lots of hairpin bends. |

| Never leave anything of value in your car. even in the boot . my fiend had all her stuff stolen - we were about 8 yards from the car screened by bushes and never heard a thing. She lost passport, money . cheques , jewellry and keys for apartment and home.Its not just the money its the hassle factor. |

| Standing 3781m tall, El Teide is the highest mountain in Spain, and it is from its snow-capped peaks that the island’s name derives, tener for ‘snow’, and Ife for ‘high mountain’. The varied styles of architecture developed when the island was divided into nine separate menceyatos, at the time of the Spanish conquests, but the differing topography of Tenerife’s landscape is entirely Mother Natures doing. Lush rolling hills, tall mountain slopes, and vast stretches of arid black sand beaches, all go to make up the charm of the island.
