Useful Tips |
| - by Samuel from United Kingdom |
| Since we were going to tour the south of Spain, we had a car, but we parked it when we were in Madrid and didn't really need it. We walked everywhere.

| I was pulled over for 'speeding' and was fined for going 5mph too fast and not wearing a safety belt. All Tourists and foreigners must pay their fines on the spot, or present what they call a Spanish bail bond or address of a Spanish friend or company who will guarantee payment. My stuff had just been stolen when I left it in the car and accidently left the passenger door unlocked and could therefor not pay or provide any of the stuff that they wanted. The vehicle was impounded and I was imprisoned and had to get a friend back home to arrange payment of the fine before I could go. |
| Traffic - by Bob Dobolina from England |
| It's mad - Don't do it. Get the bus instead. |

| Driving here was hell, no-body knows the rules of the road or cares. Make sure you have a big dose of patience and some good music to help you through the whole experience. |
| Speed limit - by oscar from London |
| In Madrid spanish drivers drive faster than they do in england, and more recklessly so get a car with air conditioning so you dont get hot or botherd :) best wishes oscar xxxxx |
Madrid Overview |
| The Museo del Prado is incredible and just one of a number of world class art galleries that you will find in this great city. Madrid also has a vibrant nightlife, excellent restaurants and some exceptionally beautiful parks. |

Madrid Essentials |
Museo del Prado - This fantastic art gallery is without doubt one of the best in the world. There is work here from a great number of top artists, and the collections from Velázquez, Goya and El Greco are particularly special.
Palacio Real - This extravagant and magnificent palace must not be missed during a trip to the city. The architecture is amazing and inside there is much of interest.
Museo Municipal - This interesting and informative museum is set in a magnificent building. There are many artefacts and works of art from Spain's history, including pieces from artists such as Goya.
Parque del Buen Retiro - These fantastic public gardens are the perfect place to just relax. Of all the things to see in the park the rose gardens and Egyptian fountain are the most impressive.
Santiago Bernabéu - Madrid is a city fanatical about football and deeply proud of its world class team. The stadium is the centre of all this and has a magnificent atmosphere both inside and out on a match day.
