| On the ferry there was a guy who thought that it was only a five minute taxi ride from the ferry port to la Coruna BUT the drive from Santander to la Coruna is a long but spectacular haul of 5 to 6 hours along the coast and through Mountain passes, even though the distance is only 300 miles. A few folk on foot were planning to get there by train or bus, but found out they could get neither and ended up hiring a car. We discovered back on the ferry that two of them never even made it out of Santander!

Torre de Hercules – Towering over passing ships, the oldest lighthouse in the world has been standing since the2nd Century, erected by Hercules himself, as legend would have it.
Aquarium Finisterrae – This modern Aquarium in La Coruna displays 2000 different species of marine life in massive underwater tanks, and is a ‘must-see’.
Castillo De San Anton – La Coruna’s archaeological museum is housed in this 16th century fort, and displays artifacts and remnants from Roman, Bronze and Megalithic Ages.
Betanzos – 45 minutes away is Betanzos, once a capital city of ancient Galicia, now a quieter retreat, worth visiting if only for its glorious park, Parque de Pasatiempo.
Nightlife – Disco pumping on the beaches, bars, Karaoke and giggles, La Coruna has found a little of something for everyone and cheerfully serves it up every night.
