| After living in JHB for six years and then moving to Cape Town, I can honesly say that JHB drivers are better. If being stuck in traffic for ever is not the way you want to spend your time, make sure you avoid all highways (freeways), between the hours of 6am-8:30am and then again between 4pm and 6:30pm. |

Brash, fast-paced and in-your-face Jozie, Jo’burg or eGoli, as it is affectionately and variously termed, is an exhilarating place to visit. Considered ugly by some, or having no aesthetic appeal, the city offers instead a dazzling nightlife and business opportunities par excellence. Towering skyscrapers, glitzy shopping malls and money, proclaim the fact that Johannesburg is the powerful mercantile hub of the African continent.
There is more to the city than hard-hearted commercialism though, and the older suburbs, where the early pioneers set up home, reveal an area of genteel grandeur, with lovely old houses on tree-lined streets, nature reserves and parks set amongst rolling hills. On the flip side of its attractions, however, visitors should be aware of the high crime rate and take sensible precautions. |

Cradle Of Humankind - Known as the Cradle of Humankind, the Sterkfontein Caves just outside Johannesburg, is where Mrs Plett’s fossilised remains were found, proving humanoid existence over 3 million years ago.
Witwatersrand Botanical Gardens - This magnificent park is home to a pair of rare Black eagles who for years have nested high on a hill beside the waterfall in the grounds.
Golf - The Royal Johannesburg, Observatory and Modderfontein are just a few of the excellent golf courses available when the hectic wheeling and dealing get too much.
