| Be sure to park your car ONLY in one of the authorised areas inside the walls. However, becuase of a lack of parking it is best to park in one of the carparks just outside the city walls, near the gates. |

Evora is the capital of Alto Alentejo. The city is scattered with houses which date back to the 16th and 17th centuries. Evora features a very historical atmosphere, the maze of streets are fitted with cobblestones and beautiful fountains are always in eye's view.

Museu de Arte Sacra de Evora - The museum of Sacred Art is the home of many religious treasures. It is found within a cathedral, and contains the cross of St. Lenho.
Museu de Evora - The museum is located inside a 17th century palace and contains a wonderful collection of paintings, sculptures and jewelry.
Igreja de Sao Francisco - The church features a main chapel, which was built in the 16th century. It consists mainly of late Renaissance-style architecture. A particular highlight of the church is the cloister which is entirely covered in human bones.
Se de Evora - The Gothic-style cathedral is the largest of its kind throughout the whole of Portugal. It contains a very valuable pew made of oak and a large organ which dates back to the 18th century.
Torre sineira do Convento do Salvador - The bell tower which features Romanesque-style architecture has been declared a National monument. It contains a terrace which offers beautiful views of the city. |
