| The best way to explore the south of Portugal is to rent a car for a few days. This way you can see a lot within a few days. Our trip last a week and during that time we want to see whatever was possible, and explore tucked away, secluded beaches .

| Albufeira Overview |
Albufeira has become one of the most significant city's of leisure and tourism. This is not surprising, as it boasts the most beautiful beaches and cliffs. Once you are at the beach, there is nothing more rewarding than breathing in the fresh air, whilst having a beautiful view of the city and surrounding cliffs.
The countryside of Albufeira is littered with lovely orange, pine, almond and fig trees, whilst the city consists of a maze of narrow streets which still contains the traditional whitewashed houses along with bars, cafe's and restaurants. |
| Albufeira Essentials |
Capela da Misericordia de Albufeira - The chapel was built on the site of Moorish mosque, during the 15th century. It was almost completely destroyed during the 1755 earthquake, though still contains some of its original Gothic features such as the large doorway and the arch.
Castelo de Paderne - The castle features the most interesting mud walls which are peculiarly shaped in the form of a trapezoid. Within the building lays the ruins of a church featuring traces of early Gothic architecture.
Igreja de Sant'Ana - A 18th century church featuring an altar and a pulpit also dating back to the 18th century.
Igreja Matriz de Nossa Senhora da Conceicao - The church was built in the late 18th century and contains a large bell tower. The church features a statue of Our Lady of Supplication which is believed to date back to the 15th century.
Torre do Relogio - A really interesting structure which is situated where what used to be the jail. It is made of wrought iron and consists of a large bell. |
