| If you want freedom of movement whenever and wherever and going to places that are not on the big tourist track then it pays to have your own car. Aucklands public transport is not the greatest and taxi's are very expensive so I was glad I had decided to hire a car. Some car hire companies are very reasonable but it pays do to some homework and make a booking before your depart for Auckland. |

| BEWARE ! The yield rules are for driving on the right side of the road but New Zealand traffic is driving on the left side |
Auckland Overview |
| This is a city surrounded by water and is an island apart from thin strips of land connecting it to the mainland, and the locals and tourists make full use of the aquatic largesse. Take not one, but two harbours, safe sunny beaches, sheltered offshore islands and a perfect outdoor climate then couple all this with a throbbing metropolitan nightlife and you have the ideal vacation destination.
