The gas stations in Mexico are run by state monopoly company called PEMEX (Petroleos Mexicanos). Hmm... I don't like any monopoly! You can pay only by cash, credit/debit cards are not accepted, and they sell only unleaded gas. The gas in Mexico was a little bit MORE EXPENSIVE than in California. Is it because of state monopoly of Pemex or higher taxes for gas - hmm... probably both, am I wrong?
Parking - by james cassidy from england
Always leave enough room to get out of your parking space but never take up to much room so there is enough room for other cars

Be ready to tip everyone. Anywhere from 3 to 5 pesos (30-50 cents) for parking. If you have problems with the police for speeding...you can pay them too. Bargain and the end result should be about 50 pesos as a foreigner. In Mexico City, after 10pm, use traffic lights as suggestions...it's legal to burn them for safety reasons after this time. Buckle-up and HAVE FUN!!

First thing to do is get Mexican Auto Insurance prior to entering Mexico, if you are in an accident and do not have them the authorities are likely to permanently confiscate your car and lock you up.( I found out the hard way). Oh yes and if someone flashes you, it means that you are coming up to a narrow road and only one car can pass at a time, they are not just being friendly as I thought.

Do not drive at night as this is when most of the highway crimes are committed, and as many of the cars in Mexico do not have working headlights and brakelights, it's hard to spot oncoming cars, very scary at times. Not to mention the livestock that mission around unattended. Trust me, if you hit a cow with your car, your car will come of second best.
