Useful Tips |
| Traffic - by martin from USA |
| 3 "rules" in Malaysia.
1. Don't hit what's in front of you.
2. Don't even think of what's behind you.
3. When overtaking someone, he with the smaller vehicle must give way. |
| Traffic - by Sid from Leeds |
| There are a large number of motorcyclists here (usually young males), who will very closely, with a small motorbike engine screaming at max revs past your car (either side) and swerve in front of you. This is rather disturbing to say the least but any attempt to hail the rider is lost as he speeds off, the wind in his ears. More than half the road deaths in Malaysia are motorcyclists. |

Malaysia Overview |
| Fabulous areas of natural beauty which are teaming with wildlife are almost reason enough to visit Malaysia. The county also boasts some excellent cities and great cultural attractions. The population is a mix of Malay, Chinese and Indian culture and all of these influences are represented in the country, especially the fine religious buildings which are present throughout. |

Malaysia Essentials |
Kuala Lumpur - This vibrant west coast city is the capital of Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur is one of the most attractive cities in Asia as it blends development and modern necessities with the heritage and culture of its beginning's. At the heart of this cosmopolitan city are the twin Petronas Towers, the tallest building in the world.
Penang Island - Situated off the north west of Peninsula Malaysia's coastline, this British settlement is worth a visit. The excellent beaches are the main draw for most visitors but the city of Georgetown is also a real treat.
Tioman Island - Lying in the South China Sea off the east coast of the mainland, Tioman Island is the most picturesque part of Malaysia. The magnificent beaches and terrific marine life are the island's main attractions.
Melaka - Melaka was rich and successful well before the development of Asia, back in the 15th century. Centuries of decline have made the city far removed from its past but there is still much to see here and it is certainly worth visiting.
Cameron Highlands - Cooler than the coast of the peninsula, the Cameron Highlands are located in the centre of Malaysia. This is great area for walking. |

Malaysia Calendar - Pick of the Year's Events |
Thaipusam at Batu Caves (19th January) - More than a million people gather at these caves in Kuala Lumpur for the Hindu festival of Thaipusam.
Colours of Malaysia Festival (May - June) - This month long festival takes place in several towns and cities across Malaysia and celebrates the diversity of the population.
