Oristano Overview |
| "Oristano's lifestyle and rich heritage has been moulded by the surrounding countryside, from the Sinis desert, the rich swampland of the Campidano plains, the mountain ranges of Arci, Grighini and Monti Ferru, and the Tirso valley, and is situated in the middle of Sardinia in the Campidana Oristanese plains.

Oristano Essentials |
Tharros – About 20 km west of Oristana are the Punic and Roman ruins that are one of the biggest attractions in the area.
The Church of San Giovanni di Sinis – Located close to the site of the solitary remnants of a first-century BC Roman temple in Tharros, is the Church of San Giovanni di Sinis, which competes with Cagliari’s San Aturno for the title of the Sardinia’s oldest church.
Barbagia – The mountainous region known as Barbagia, has lush meadows and wooded slopes, with tiny villages dotted about the region, and is best visited for hiking, skiing or mountain climbing.
Oliena – Lying on the slopes on Monte Corrasi, Oliena is famed for its production of the island’s best wines. Visitors can also explore the caves and crags of the Supramonte massif, which rises to an elevation of 1363 metres.
Tiscali – There are strange conical towers in Sardinia known as nuraghi, which have truncated tops, are from 30 to 60 ft high and from 35 to 100 ft wide, and are constructed from blocks of stone, and visitors can see one of these monuments located in a huge mountain-top cavern.
