| Bolzano Overview |
Bolzano is located in the north of Italy on the Austrian border, in the southern Tyrol region. There are plenty of historic attractions in the town as well as skiing in the Tyrol. In the summer many mountain walks can be enjoyed.
The beautiful S.Genesio/Jenesien has a mild climate and is also a popular holiday destination, so for a break with pure and healthy mountain air, history and nature walks. |
| Bolzano Essentials |
Piazza Walther or Waltherplatz - The gracious heart of the town is where the locals and visitors meet. Enjoy a drink or snack here at one of the square's restaurants after viewing the monuments.
Duomo - This Gothic structure was started in 1295 and one of its highlights is the sandstone bell tower that is 65 metre tall. The interesting history is worth a couple of hours.
S. Vigilio Church - The church is not going as such, but you are able to view frescos from the Bolzano School (Not in great condition, but what do you expect from 1400).
Museo Archeologico - This wonderful museum houses some interesting pieces, including a 5,300 year old mummy found in a nearby glacier.
Natural Science Museum - Located in the town centre , this museum has a number of interesting exhibits and sometimes hosts travelling shows. |
