Avellino is 56 km from Naples and is the capital of the province with the same name. The area around the town is a hilly area and good for walking in the summer and skiers should be happy in winter.
The town takes its name from the ancient Roman city of Abellinum (The remains can be seen). Avellino is very pleasant to explore and well laid out. Ancient Rome is never far away in the many remains. |
