Useful Tips |
Traffic - by Sally from Varese
In northern Italy, take your time and don't let other drivers annoy or hassle you. Actually, they are usually very forgiving. Italian driving is NOT personal, they just don't drive like we do. Arm yourself with a good map and be prepared to get lost. The road signs are inconsistent and often unhelpful. There are also rather more signs than you would expect, or none at all!
Scenic drives - by Tats from UK
Round trip: Belluno, Pieve di Cadore, Cortina d'Ampezzo, Predazzo, Feltre, Belluno. Fantastic mountain ranges - dolomites
Scenic drives - by Tracy from Egypt
Setting out on the open road was definitely the best way to experience the Italian country, which is most delightful. Contrasts heighten the impact of visual treats as you meander through dramatic mountains on to some of the most romantic lakes in the world.
Speed limit - by Bruno from France
On motorways, it's 130 km/h. 50 Km/h in towns & villages otherwise mentioned. On the spot fines are issue, so speed at your risk!
Other - by beukes from South Africa
Toll Gates. Inadequate explanation by hire companies on how toll systems works. i.e. telepass; inadequate signs and notices at toll gates to inform motorists where to stop and how much they must pay, especially tourists/foreigners. Generally road signs on Italian road totally inadequate.
