| Public transport and heavy crowds are not for me. Getting around Knock and travelling farther afield in County Mayo was great having a rented car. Do take care driving in fog. |

| There is no public transport from the airport into Knock, although you can get a shuttle to nearby Charlestown and then perhaps a bus, but I don’t know how reliable that is, or how long it takes. Best to hire a car or taxi (expensive) into Knock town. |

| Knock is located in county Mayo, which is one of the most beautiful areas of southern Ireland with its incredible scenery and delightful coastline. Knock is famous because the Virgin Mary, St Joseph and St John were witnessed to have appeared there in 1879, and since has hosted many important religious figures and events. The town is a great place to visit with some excellent attractions and a rich history. |

Knock Folk Museum - Most of this museum is dedicated to the Knock Apparition, when the Virgin Mary, St John and St Joseph are said to have appeared in the town. The museum also documents life in Knock around the time.
Mayo Abbey - Formed in 688, Mayo Abbey is one of the most important Monastic sites in Europe. The Abbey has an excellent tour on offer.
The Foxford Woollen Mills Visitor Centre - Situated approximately 20 miles outside of Knock, the Foxford Woollen Mills Visitor Centre shows many excellent exhibitions which showcase local artists.
The J J Byrne Craft Shop - This unique craft shop sells a diverse variety of Irish products including pottery and Galway crystal. |
