Guadeloupe Cities |

Guadeloupe Overview |
| Guadeloupe is the largest of the French West Indian islands and is mostly made up by its two adjoining mainland islands, Basse-Terre and Grande-Terre.
The western Basse-Terre, its central core is dominated by mountain ranges, which surround its bountiful rainforests and descend to meet twinkling black-sand beaches. The eastern Grande-Terre, is slightly smaller, utterly flat and predominantly rural. Most of the action happens along its southern coast, where one white-sand beach after another seems to merge endlessly along the coast. |

Guadeloupe Essentials |
Reserve Cousteau - Take a 10 minute boat trip to the Pigeon Islands and visit the Cousteau sanctuary. Sitting in the glass bottom of the boat you can admire the coral reef and numerous fishes. When the boat stops, you jump in the water and swim with the fishes. On your way back to the docks, you have some punch and sing a few songs.
Parc National de la Guadeloupe - This tremendous 17,300ha rainforest encompasses the volcanic La Soufrière and the thundering Chutes de Carbet. Cascade aux Ècrevisses and Bras David, two of the many hiking trails the park has to offer are a great way to experience the jungle.
Point-a-Pitre - The liveliest area is the Quai de la Darse, an extensive pier edging the length of the waterfront. The quay is lined with lively markets, spices; fruit; fish; T-shirts and various island sundries are sold here from dawn until mid-afternoon.
Morne-a-l'eau cimetary - With its black and white checker tombs and vaults built in a circus, this site is amazing. It's renowned for its picturesque quality and is frequented by numerous photographers.
Cascade aux ecrevisses - This intimate little cascade seems to fall from the vegetation and has a warm fresh pool where you can have a swim. There are tables, cabins and grills where you can have a picnic. |
