| The French Foreign Legion use the town of Calvi as an important base, and the handsome and immaculate Legionnaires can be seen in the bars lining de la Republique Avenue, lending the area an exciting dash of romance. The glamorous Marina, souvenir shops and over stocked boutiques give ample opportunity for getting rid of any spare cash, and the sands and sea allow time for tanning and reflection on just how much you did spend. Calvi is a pleasant place to visit, with its beautiful citadel overlooking the sea, and misty, snow-capped mountains in the background.

Citadel – Built in 1268 by Giovaninello de Loreto, the huge citadel stands on a windswept rock overlooking the sea.
Ste-Marie-Majeure – Painted pink with a bell tower that rises elegantly above the town this church was built in 1774.
Cathédrale St-Jean-Baptiste – Founded in the 13th century but greatly damaged in 1553, the church has been restored and houses the greatly treasured Christ des Miracles.
