Useful Tips
Speed limit - by Lorrraine Edman from Australia
The drivers in England drive to fast. Do not care about other cars or people on the road. Drivers need to slow down and be more careful towards other people.

Stick to Indicated Speed Limits and don't try to be clever
Scenic drives - by Ken from USA
One of our favorite drives has been through the Cotswolds visiting small town after small town and enjoying the shops and the food. We also enjoyed a drive across Scotland and a wonderful trip from the top to the bottom of Wales.

Do not drive while using a cell phone and buckle up!
- by John from Darrowby
I have to say that public transport around the Yorkshire Dales leaves a lot to be desired! You are way better off with a car, both for getting here and getting around.
Traffic - by Barney from Germany
Right hand driving is no problem as long as you are attentive. But if you're tired it's possible that you'll find yourself on the wrong side of the street. That's dangerous. So drive careful and stop regulary for brakes.

Other-side of the road driving is OK, but watch those speed cams. Never got a ticket sent to me back in the states til now. Ugh

England Overview
The largest country in the UK, England offers cosmopolitan cities, a rich historical heritage and sensational countryside. A cultural and economic centre for Europe, England has much to offer from London's vibrant arts scene and nightlife to the historic towns of York and Durham, England has plenty to offer everyone.

England Essentials
London - Just too much to pick one specific attraction. With fantastic architecture, great art galleries and museums, and a hectic bar and restaurant scene, London is one of the world's premier cities.

Lake District - Of all the fantastic countryside in England the Lake District is arguably the most stunning. The region's combination of dales, lakes and peaks attracts over 10 million visitors a year.

Stonehenge - Stonehenge is the most famous monument of religious significance in Europe. Despite heavy restrictions being placed on visitors in order to protect the site, this ring of mystical stones is truly awe inspiring.

Canterbury Cathedral - The seat of the archbishop of Canterbury, this is the most impressive cathedral in England, if not necessarily the most picturesque. Encapsulating a number of different styles the cathedral is a wonderful place to visit.

York - This traditional northern city is top of the list for many tourists. Steeped in heritage, the city has many attractions including its incredible cathedral and medieval city walls.

England Calendar - Pick of the Year's Events
Wimbledon (late June/Early July) - The worlds most famous and most loved tennis championship takes place in this borough of London every summer. If you can get a ticket it is an absorbing experience, just pray it doesn't rain.

Notting Hill Carnival (August) - This Caribbean inspired carnival is the most colourful and enjoyable festival in the country. As close as you will get to Mardi Gras in England.
