Useful Tips |
| Traffic - by john from london |
| I don`t understand who dares to drive in cairo city with all its traffic and crazy micro buses drivers. Don`t even try it, i used a meet and greet service called cairotaxi.com to drive me from the airport to my hotel. This was much better and safer. |

| Cairo is in an eternal taffic jam and when you get to know the style of Cairo drivers and you go with the flow things get a little easier. I soon learnt that using valet parking, which is cheap, you get to places in the city quickly and without hassle. |
Cairo Overview |
Cairo is primarily famous for its awe inspiring pyramids but the capital of Egypt is ‘mega’ in every sense. Cairo has many incredible buildings of great design with and history that runs throughout this great city. However, even more than its landmarks it is the atmosphere of the city which makes it so attractive. Every moment you spend in Cairo is exhilarating, its bustle surpasses even New York’s and there is a constant sense of purpose. Cairo is a must for any traveller, with its amazing sites, culture and religious significance.

Cairo Essentials |
Giza Pyramids – The national symbol of Egypt, this ancient ‘graveyard’ of Kings and noblemen is the first port of call for most visitors. The only remaining of the Seven Wonders of the World, the sheer size and immensity of this amazing accomplishment has to be seen to be understood.
Heliopolis – Built as an exclusive ‘garden city’ for the ruling classes at the turn of the century, this suburb is well worth a visit. The highlight of Heliopolis is probably incredible Baron’s Palace.
Mosque of Mohammed Ali – Sitting atop the citadel this magnificent Islamic structure is an awe inspiring site.
Egyptian Museum – With over 100,000 artefacts this museum gives a fabulous insight into Egypt’s great history. Possibly its most famous site is Tutankhamun complete with his gold death mask.
The Sphinx – This magnificent although slightly decayed structure is found at a high point of the pyramids and is a fascinating sight. |

Cairo Calendar - Pick of the Year's Events |
