Schoenbrunn Palace - This is one of the top attractions of Vienna, and was designed for the Habsburgs by the baroque masters, the von Erlachs. It was constructed between 1696 and 1712, and has 1,441 rooms. This is one of the must see places in Vienna.
Museum of Fine Art - This museum houses the excellent art collections of the Habsburgs, and is a must for anyone interested in art. The museum's top attraction is its collection of ancient Egyptian and Greek art. It also has an extensive collection of works by the great European masters.
St Stephan's Cathedral - This 352 foot long cathedral was founded in the 12th century, and is entwined with Vieennese and Austrian History. The cathedral's main treasure is the carved wooden Wiener Neustadt altarpiece that dates back to 1447.
Schoenbrunner Tiergarten - This is the oldest zoo in the world and was founded by the husband of Empress Maria Theresa. This is a great place for the whole family to have a fun outing, with beautiful baroque buildings and many interesting animals throughout.
Botanical Garden of the University of Vienna - These beautiful green gardens are a great place to relax and take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. The gardens house many exotica and rare plants from all over the world. There are also picnic areas, where you can sit back and have some lunch, surrounded by the beauty of nature. |

Kunst Wien (early October) - This is Vienna's top annual festival for contemporary art, and is hosted in the galleries of the Museum of Applied Arts. Kunst Wien gives an overview of Austria's leading art galleries and showcases international artists.
Viennale Film Festival (15-27 October) - This is Austria's biggest annual film festival and consits of a fortnight of premieres; retrospectives; discussions; and more in cinemas throughout the city. It attracts the who's who in the film industry from around the world. |
